Kalvos came to life as the result of some scribbled crayon layers inspired by the rolling Lithuanian hills. One of our most versatile pieces, it's made from cozy Merino wool with a hip-length front and a slightly longer back. Its side ties and metal buckles add a little extra sophistication while its soft grey shade makes it great for layering on those cool evenings.
- 100% Merino wool. Cruelty free.
- Dry clean. Store folded.
- We don't believe in deadstock. This knit is produced in small batches at our female-lead, family-run partner factory in Šiauliai, Lithuania. You'll get a card with your order telling you exactly who knitted your garment and a little about them.
- For the knit, we use 100% Merino wool that's of Responsible Wool Standard, with no microplastics and no harmful or irritant chemicals used.
One of the brightest young talents in Lithuania, designer Viltė Savickaitė teamed up with Lithuanian artisans for handmade pieces to bridge the gap between traditional artisanal techniques and modern aesthetics. At the time having said her goodbyes to both of her biological grandmothers, Viltė worked with an elderly artisan Danutė to create the very first sample. "Danutė had become my wonderful friend, someone who I loved speaking to. I would visit her on dark winter evenings – more to spend time with her than just create something."

There are millions of garment workers around the world. Roughly 85% of them are women. Many of them face inhumane working conditions and earn below a living wage. However, the three founders wanted to create something that made you feel good wearing it. Each purchase empowers craftswomen, mostly stay-at-home moms in rural areas of Lithuania. The majority of them live in villages where jobs are extremely scarce.

The Knotty Ones only sources the softest 100% natural fibres inspired by local Northern traditions such as Alpaca wool, Merino wool and 100% Oeko-Tex certified extra stretch cotton, ensuring that it is soft and non-toxic for your skin while wearing.
Depending on how complex your garment is, it takes at least two to four full days for an artisan to make just one knit. In that sense, each product has its own individual story.
